Systems
eSystems is integrated at the data level. This allows independent development of functional systems and sharing of data between these systems. eSystems runs on a common platform built with core components which include Business Process Manager, Data Container, Web Forms, Full Text Search, Report Manager, Attachments, and Controlled Excel TM Spreadsheets.

Kalliste eSystems allows future systems to be added as needed. Validation of functional systems can be performed individually, minimizing impact on the current validation status of the system.

Electronic Laboratory Notebook (ELN)
The Electronic Notebook is used to collect experimental data in real time. ELN allows instant access to data significantly decreasing time and effort needed to generate reports. This invaluable tool can also be used to track experimental data and manage workloads. The Electronic Notebook allows retention of all paper-based notebook functionality while eliminating the cumbersome management of traditional paper-based systems.

Quality Management System (QMS)
The Quality Management System is used to meet industry requirements for managing, analyzing, and processing events and actions, with respect to non-conformances, internal audits, change control, deviations, corrective and preventive actions (CAPAs), preventive maintenance and calibrations, as well as other regulatory requirements. eSystems QMS can provide tracking, trending and reporting capabilities, helping to reduce risk and streamline quality related processes. QMS works with Training Management, Asset Management and Chemical Inventory systems to provide connected quality processes.

Asset Management
The Asset Management System is used to maintain and inventory of assets as well as manage calibrations and maintenance in conjunction with the Quality Management System. In addition, the Asset Management System can work with the Electronic Notebook if required, to ensure that only calibrated instruments can be used in an experiment (prior to collecting data) thus preventing the collection of potentially invalid data.

Chemical Inventory
The Chemical Inventory System is used to register chemicals, reference standards etc.
In addition, the expiration date of chemicals can be easily controlled. This information can be utilized by the eNotebook system to ensure proper expiration dates are listed as well as to query where a particular chemical was used.

Core Components

Business Process Manager (BPM) includes a Process Graphical Designer - a user friendly tool to create an understandable graphical representation of the business process. This graphical representation is automatically translated to information that is used by each of the functional systems.

Data Container is the storage center for all data records in eSystems. Data records are stored as combination of data elements (parameters). The data container is designed in such a way that parameters can be grouped into chains which then act as templates for data storage. This design allows data to be added easily without intensive programming.

Full Text Search facilities make every document in the system ready for querying, returning pertinent search information. Data is retrieved and information is displayed according to current user permissions.

Query Manager includes a Graphical Query Designer and Query Execution environment. The graphical query designer is a tool that enables easy building of queries based on data container structure. The query execution environment runs the query and generates a web-based output while allowing export into either Excel.

Attachments provide flexibility by allowing data collection in any format. Once a document is attached to the experiment, version control provides an audit trail of events for document control.

Controlled Spreadsheets and Web Forms are data collectors that allow for compliant data collection with cell-level audit trail functionality as well as bi-directional information exchange between data collectors and the data container. A centralized pool of data collection templates can be designed and made available for users. It also allows for multi-user data-collection sections to be controlled through user permissions.
